Then a rock with note attached fly’s though the window that says that Black Alonzo McFadden, played by (Dennis Holmes), the Red Handed Avenger, will say them, when Hoss looks out the window he sees a little boy running away. Then Lorna comes in with her group of ladies and recites a poem ‘’Oh poor doomed prisoners, it ain't too late. Down on your knees as you face your awful fate. Repent your crimes before that trap is sprung. And you, like a side of beef, are hung." , while she’s reading the younger girls in the group argue who gets to hold Joe’s hand. Joe comments to Hoss that it’s worse than the hanging but Hoss tells him to hush up and is nearly in tears over the poem. when she finished the ladies again complain that their aint enough men around and that it’s ashamed to hang Hoss and Joe, then the wall in the back of their cell collapse and without thinking twice Hoss and Joe escape on the horses a group of men have provided for them and they ride off.  They find out that the McFadden clan rescued them. All along the way they try to tell the McFadden clan that they ain’t the Slade brothers but they don’t listen. Then Mr. Alonzo McFadden, played by (Douglas Spencer), introduces Hoss and Little Joe to his wife, Ouisey McFadden, played by (Dorothy Neumann) and his daughter, Amanda McFadden, played by (Ann Graves). Then Alonzo locks them up in a bedroom for the night.

Then as Hoss and Joe are getting ready for bed later that night Alonzo’s son, Black Alonzo McFadden, climbs in through the window. Then Little Alonzo explains to Hoss and Joe that the McFadden’s hired the Slade brothers to kill Anse Hatfield because he’s the best shot in town. Then they can kill all the other Hatfield’s. Hoss and Joe want no part of it so they tie Little Alonzo up and climb out the window. Then Hoss accidently trips over a milk bucket and there captured again.

In the morning Hoss’s and Joe refuse to go and shot the Hatfield’s. Then when Alonzo threatens to hang them they pick up some guns and say they’ll fight. But Hoss convinces Alonzo to ride into town with them and let Twirly identifies them as not being the Slade brothers.

When they get to town Slade is drunk and telling a tall tale about going to school with the Slade’s. The sheriff Banneman lets him know that there coming and everyone rushes out the door to see. Twirly identifies them as the Slade brothers, and Alonzo demands that Hoss and Joe fulfill there agreement to kill the Hatfield’s.  As the McFadden’s prepare to fight Hoss and Joe ask how the feud started. It seems that thirty years before the Hatfield’s hog disappeared, and that night the McFadden’s had pork for dinner even though they didn’t have a hog. Then Sheriff Banneman tells them he knows that there not the Slade brothers and gives them back there guns and horses. As they are about to leave Little Alonzo walks by saying he’s going to kill some Hatfield’s. Then Hoss says "That's what I like about us as a family, Joe. Pa always taught us to never do nothing the others would be ashamed of. I'd like to keep it like that," then they go back to the saloon to talk to Sheriff Banneman.  The sheriff has a plan so Hoss goes to see Lorna. He says ‘’ Excuse me ma’me, me and my little brother are in a pack of trouble and, well.’’ Hoss pauses so Lorna says. ‘’ come on, tell me what it’s all about.’’ Then she sits down on one of the porch chairs while Hoss stands. Then he says. ‘’First of all ma’me, there’s just about to be a bunch of killing out there in that street.’’ Then Lorna says. ‘’ There’s always killing in that street.’’ Then Hoss says. ‘’Well yes un and that seems to me like a terrible waste. I mean there not being enough men to go around for all you ladies like it is.’’ Then Lorna says.’’ There aint a woman living that can stop men from fighting.’’ Then Hoss says. ‘’ Well ma’me, I beg to differ with you, you see, sometimes women folk can sort of, get around men folk in little ways and I figure many if you ladies try right hard you can even get around these.’’ Then Lorna gets up and says. ‘’ You ain’t as dumb as you look.’’ Hoss grins sheepishly. Then Lorna says.’’ What do you want me to do um?’’ then Hoss says. ‘’ Well ma’me, here’s are plan, we figure,’’

Later that day, just as the fight is about to begin all the women march into the street and stand in the line of fire.  Sheriff Banneman Hoss and Little Joe are off to the side watching. Then Lorna says ‘’ Us women got a few things to tell you and you can start your fighting after you hear us out. Ok ladies, well they got to listen to you.’’ Then Ouisey McFadden steps out and says. ‘’ I’ve got something to say. You all know me I’m Ouisey McFadden my man’s Alonzo McFadden he’s over there behind them barrels and things with the rest of the McFadden’s. Alonzo I want you to listen to me I can’t have no more killing but I aint going to cook for you, nor wash for you, nor do anything a wife’s bound to do for her man until you put down that gun and come out of there. Alonzo I mean it.’’ Then Susan Hatfield steps out and says. ‘’ I’m Susan Hatfield. I guess you all know who I’m taking to. What Ouisey says goes for me to Jubal, I won’t be the kind of wife I should, until you stop this fighting. Then Amanda McFadden steps out and says. ‘’ I’m taking to you Ans Hatfield. You heard your ma talk, and you heard my ma. You’re on one side and I’m on the other. Here I am Ans. But don’t come after me with a gun in your hand.’’ Then Ans drops his gun and starts walking toward Amanda and they met in the middle. Then Lorna calls. ‘’ you men want to hear some more?’’ then everybody starts dropping their guns and hopping over the barricades and walking over to their wives and lovers. Both Alonzo McFadden and Jubal Hatfield try to stop them but nobody’s listening and everybody walks away so that only Alonzo and Jubal and Lorna are left. Then Alonzo says.’’ It was such a nice day for it to.’’ Then he chocks and says. ‘’ Hatfield I’ll buy you a drink.’’ Jubal says. ‘’ A drink? I’ll right I’ll accept your offer and I’ll buy another.’’ Alonzo says. ‘’ Faire enough and they start walking toward the saloon side by side with Lorna watching on.

Meanwhile Joe is surrounded by girls and has one on each arm. Hoss says. ‘’ Hey Little Joe, Little Joe I think we’ve done hung around her long enough we’d better just be riding along and tending our business and that’s buying cattle.’ ’ All the girls groan. Then Joe says ‘’  O Hoss take an easy a guy has to have a little chance to relax.’’ Then the Sheriff comes out and says.’’ Boys here’s your hats and your own guns and take an old man’s advice and get riding here you are son.’’ Then Joe says.’’ Hey sheriff we were just beginning to enjoy this town.’’ Then the sheriff says. ‘’ Yeah but don’t forget there still a heap of folks that still thinks you’re the Slade boys. Now a word to the wise.’’ Then walk away and Joe tips his hat to the ladies. Then he turns back around and kisses two of girls. He goes to do it again but Hoss grabs him by the waist and puts him around him and all but drags him as he says.’’ You’ve hugged enough for today Little Joe.’’

As Hoss and Little Joe ride out of town they bump into two riders who look a lot like them. Played by (Dan blocker and Michael Landon) the one who looks like Hoss says‘’ How far is it to Kiowa Flats?’’ Hoss says. ‘’ just a couple miles back down the road.’’ The two riders look at each other and ride off. Then Hoss and Joe look at each other. Then Joe says. ‘’ You, you don’t suppose that?’’ Hoss nods and says. ‘’ I think so. Come on let’s get out of here’’ a few minutes later they hear gunfire. They look at each other and Hoss says.’’ You don’t reckon?’’ Joe says. ‘’ I think so.’’ Then they pull their hats over their eyes and ride off.
